MBD failure to update records with Capitec

MBD has failed to notify Capitec to close my credit account despite the account being fully settled. Settlement letters were provided by my debt counsellors as well as the Capitec Branch Manager. However, Capitec advised that they are unable to close the account without confirmation from MBD.

I have made numerous attempts to contact MBD via email, with no response or resolution. In terms of the law, MBD has a responsibility to ensure that settled accounts are correctly updated, yet they have failed to do so.

As a result of this misconduct and ongoing inaction, I have been advised to pursue legal action.

Hi MBD, Thanks for your reply.

How was the matter resolved amicably?

I was at Capitec and Capitec Bank said you never reached to notify them to close that Credit Card account.

Kindly advise as to how the matter was resolved. Because as it stands I have an Active CREDIT CARD Account with Capitec that I no longer have and use anymore.

Official

Good day,
Kindly be advised that your Capitec Bank account has been closed due to the duration of inactivity and the absence of payments.
Please note that the account has not been settled with our office.  We have issued a confirmation letter that the account has been closed on our side and was referred to the bureaus for updates.

We trust the above is in order.

Kind regardsCOMPLAINTS OFFICER
