MBD Attorneys continuous harassment

It is incredibly sad that we have bully's like MBD Attorneys that are still allowed to operate in the South African business environment. I have been continuously harassed by SMS’s and phone calls from these attorneys. When I call to speak to a senior attorney, the call is always dropped, as if they know that they are in the wrong. The SMS’s always say that if I do not pay that interest will accrue on my supposed account. This interest is levied at over 100% per annum as they insist on charging a 10% increase each month according to the amount, they send me via SM’S saying I owe.

On the 31st of May 2012 I signed a contract with Virgin Active for a ONE-year membership. The contract had a debit order and was valid for a calendar year. From 2013 I changed the debit order to a monthly EFT. This meant that if I did not pay, I no longer was allowed access to the gym. I continued on this basis until 2017, September when I stopped paying. As there are no CANCELLATION clauses in the contract, (which MBD was so kind to supply me with), I was thus released from any further membership fees Virgin Active had cause to request from me. In 2018 around February, a person from Virgin Active contacted me and asked about my membership. I acknowledged that I had not paid fees since September 2017 as I no longer wished to make use of the facilities. I was then asked if I would like to reinstate my membership? To do this they said I must back pay the last few months. I never agreed to pay for any months that I was not using any gym, nor did I receive any benefit from any Virgin Active Gym at any time after I stopped paying membership fees. My question is simply, "What gives MBD and Virgin Active the right to harass me for fees that I don't owe them?" It is time that these companies are named and shamed for harassment. Continuous harassment by either of these company is going to result in further legal action against both Virgin Active and MBD Attorneys.
