Harassment to the extreme – non stop...

<p>And so this sad saga continues...(see below)</p> <p> </p> <p>I received an email from an MBD employee stating that this case is closed, that it was an error. </p> <p> </p> <p>So, silly me expected no more SMS'... Unfortunately not!</p> <p>It was quite for about two weeks, but the last week or so I received another 9 SMS'!</p> <p> </p> <p>I am being told I will be blacklisted, harassed, etc.</p> <p> </p> <p>How can I get this to STOP?????</p> <p> </p> <p>Original Complaint:</p> <p>Since about February 2015 I have been harassed by staff from MBD Attorneys about an alleged overdue account from Emfuleni Municipality.</p> <p>Of course the municipality is just as bad...</p> <p> </p> <p>Here is my story, I would appreciate any advice or help on this.</p> <p> </p> <p>I bought a house in Vereeniging (Emfuleni) in 2001. I sold it in 2004.</p> <p>No, out of the blue, it is claimed that I owe Emfuleni around R350.</p> <p> </p> <p>I have explained telephonically and by email to MBD staff that that is simply not possible.</p> <p>Reasons are:</p> <p>I SOLD the house in 2004. When you sell a property the transfer CANNOT go through unless all fees to the municipality has been paid in full. The municipality provides a certificate, which was handed in to the transfer attorney to this regard.</p> <p> </p> <p>Secondly, I lived in the house from 2001 to 2004. If my account was overdue since 2001, surely action should (would) have been taken long before I sold it!</p> <p> </p> <p>Lastly, I understand that debt expires after 3 years. The first time they contacted me about the debt was in February 2015, which is 14 years later!</p> <p> </p> <p>In 2015 I was harassed by MDB for about 6 months. And by harass I mean SMS' nearly every day and telephone calls every second day.</p> <p>Then it stopped.</p> <p> </p> <p>Until a week ago, now it all started again. Daily SMS' and calls etc.</p> <p>Hilarious to say that they threaten to switch of my electricity... well, they can do so, maybe they will realize that I sold the house!!!!</p> <p>But more serious is the fact that they threaten to blacklist me.</p> <p> </p> <p>Of course I can pay that silly little amount, but the principle is that it is not my debt and/or my mistake. And who is to say that if they see they can bully me into paying this, they won't "find" a new debt next month?</p> <p>With *******ion rife in our country I am not willing to take the change of opening myself up to such actions.</p> <p> </p> <p>I hope there is someone who can tell me what to do about this.</p>
