I am extremely disappointed with my experience with MBD Debt Collectors regarding the collection of a debt that I believe has prescribed under South African law.

Attempting to collect a debt that has prescribed raises serious concerns about whether the applicable legal requirements are being respected. Consumers deserve to be treated fairly, informed of their rights, and protected from collection attempts involving debts that may no longer be legally enforceable.

I believe debt collection companies have a responsibility to verify the legal status of debts before pursuing consumers for payment. Consumers should not have to fight to protect themselves from demands for payment on potentially prescribed debts.

I urge MBD to review this matter, provide a clear explanation of the legal basis for its collection efforts, and ensure that its practices comply with South African consumer protection and debt collection laws.

Consumers: know your rights, verify old debts, and seek advice before making any payment or acknowledging a debt you believe may have prescribed.

I hope MBD takes these concerns seriously and addresses this matter appropriately.

Now I'm sitting with the fuss of having to dispute this with my credit bureau.
