Unregistered VIN

On the 20 July 2016, we contacted Mazda Motion Road Side Assistance, as our Mazda when on the blink and decided to switch off. When we contacted the Mazda Emergency contact number on 0800, and spoke to Andrew who assisted us, we were advised that our vehicle is not on the Mazda Assistance Data base.

This is however not the first time we contacted Mazda Motion for assistance, just to find out that our Vehicles VIN number does not appear on their Data base.

I have queried this with the Dealer where we bought the vehicle from and they advised me that the vehicle should be registered as the vehicle was manufactured in 2013. However when I spoke to Andrew he advised me that that vehicle does not appear as it was not manufactured in the year 2013.

We would like to know when our vehicle was manufactured in order to find out why it is not registered on the Mazda Motion Data base.

To top it all off, Andrew logged a call for assistance with our dilemma, however not once was did he ask if I was alone in the vehicle or where I was with my family, until we received a call from the AA. We then spoke to a Zani from the AA who advised me that road side assistance will only be there within 45min from contact I advised him that they cannot take so long as I have my family with me in the vehicle, he then advised me that he will contact the towing company to rush them on. When he returned the call he advised me the AA road assistance does not cover my family and that it only covers the driver, and that the towing company cannot accommodate my family. At this point I got angry and advised him that he can leave everything as I will try and make my own arrangement to get home with my family as I cannot believe what I am hearing that my family is not covered. I asked the question: “What would have happened if we were on our way to Johannesburg and the vehicle broke down, would we have gotten the same response the they can only assist the driver and not the occupants of the vehicle?” he could not answer me.

This is not the first time where the vehicle does not want to start and that we had to get friends of ours to assistance in getting the vehicle towed and boosted. The funny part about it is that the vehicle just died while in traffic and did not want to start again. The instrumentation clusters lights was on and we could swing the ignition and nothing, but the Rev Counter and speedometer counter just winds clockwise and then returns to its original position.

We have however managed to get ourselves home, with no assistance from Mazda motion or the AA.

For a reputable brand in our market I feel that we have been dealt a bad blow and that it left a bad taste in our mouths. I really would like to get to the bottom of all of this and know where we stand with Mazda regarding our vehicle not being on the Mazda motion Data base and the year our vehicle was manufactured.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
