Mazda 2 and Mazda Service
I feel it is my responsibility as a customer of Mazda since 2017 to bring up this issue.
I have been having multiple small issues with my 2019 Mazda 2 Dynamic Auto since I purchased the car brand new, such as; the driver’s door window got stuck half way and would not close, both side mirrors stopped closing, and the biggest issue being my brakes.
The brakes noises started from roughly 29/06/2022, it would make noises going down hills whilst pressing the brakes. In the first few days of September in 2022 I was told I had to pay R4,256.05 for front pads as well as skimming the disks, my dad being the person who pays for the vehicle, he refused to pay that much for 2 brake pads. So we then proceeded to send the vehicle to another mechanic who doesn’t charge so much when brake pads only cost up to R700 or so. We first put Ferodo brake pads on, but the noise continued. We then tried Brembo but the noise just worsened.
I wanted my brakes to be in perfect condition by 13/09/2022 as I had to drive the vehicle to Cape Town for work. I then decided to pay that R4,256.05 when I got back 27/10/2022. By 30/11/2022, the brakes were squeeking and were making a knocking noise every time I pressed the brake. Mazda Clearwater then proceeded to check and clean the rear brakes and shoes as shown on attached document. I can’t even remember which date it was now that I went back to Mazda for the 3rd time in December but Mazda Clearwater came to the conclusion that the knocking noise was because the brake disks needed to be replaced. I asked if they did and their answer was no because there is no stock of brake discs which I understand, but I mean I don’t think a car dealership should give a car back to a client with brake issues. And I was actually scared to drive my car, I thought that my brakes might fail. If the brakes were to fail and I killed someone or I were killed in an accident, what then? It is putting other peoples lives in danger. They then proceeded to tell me the invoice for the brake discs will be around R5,000.00 to replace.
So I feel that this needs to be brought to Mazda South Africa’s attention, and it is such an impossible mission to get a hold of any form of customer support, as this is so unbelievably unprofessional that I as a loyal client must go back and fourth every few weeks to fix my car. My sister is also due to get a first car and my dad is looking for a car for himself but they are very quickly changing their minds about Mazda as it seems to just be difficulty all the time. My mom has had a Mazda Cx-3 since 2017 but luckily there was no problems for her.
There is only one person from Mazda Clearwater, service department who is actually so damn helpful, thank you so much Jacqui.
