Faulty Vehicle CMH Mazda Hatfield takes no responsibility

My fellow South Africans if you were thinking of buying a Mazda … DON’T!

Especially a BRAND NEW MAZDA CX3 from CMH Mazda Hatfield. I implore you to please read this very carefully and AVOID the PITFALLS. They will do absolutely anything and everything to get you to buy the vehicle, this includes NUMEROUS LIES.

They conveniently forget about what they said to you when confronted and avoids questions rendered to them.

In my case, this was a one month’s payment holiday and paying back a premium on my previous vehicle. I had to call my New Car Sales Executive numerous times to find out when this will occur as the payment date and timeline stipulated by him and the F & I manager never came to pass as discussed, here I was informed that I should sort it out with the bank as they can’t do anything for me, I went back to him and informed him that this was part of our terms of sale and they eventually paid it out of their account.

On to my second issue, the New Car Sales Executive sold me a BRAND NEW MAZDA CX3 DYNAMIC – 2020 MODEL with all the bells and whistles OR SO I THOUGHT.

On the day of taking collection of my NEW vehicle he tried to activate my ANDROID CAR PLAY FEATURE, he was NOT SUCCESSFUL and told me IN FRONT OF A WITNESS that I should try to activate it by connecting to my internet at home and if this cannot be done that, they will activate it when I bring my car in for a service as they just need to update my software. Kind of upset I asked him that why wasn’t this done in the first place as I now need to take time out of my schedule to have the software installed or updated for a feature that was supposed to be part of the vehicle I paid for and purchased in the first place. Obviously, I did not succeed in installing this feature and I informed him about it, so I had to wait until such time that I can take my vehicle into a dealership. (Keep this in the back of your mind while continue reading)

There was also the issue of the vehicle registration and the installation of my numberplates but that is minor to what I am about to warn you of.

Onto issue 3 – technically nr 4 - My vehicle, not even 6 months old, is lighting up with warning lights all over the dashboard! The Park light, the ABS, the skid/ traction control lights, and the i-stop randomly start flashing when I drive. Please have a look at the videos and the warnings as per the attached photos and video.

This in turn then deactivates the i-stop feature. I took the vehicle in and was told it was a connection break in the right rear wheel and that they fastened the wiring, also enquired about the updating of the software for the Android Car play seeing that my vehicle is at a dealership, they informed me that this is not included and will cost me an additional 8k!!! Very upset I drove off but thought I will just make sure of the facts as the person helping me just started working there and might not be aware of what is included and what is not.

2 days after I thought the problem was sorted out the warning lights came back on!!! I took it to CMH Mazda Randburg which was closer to me at that stage and after one day of my vehicle being inspected and trying to replicate the fault, which was not being captured on the onboard computer, I was told to contact CMH Mazda Hatfield who sold me the vehicle and request a loan vehicle for a minimum of 3-4 days so that they can try and find the fault and repair the vehicle but I was also in my right to request a new vehicle as according to the CPA I have 6 months to do so. I also once again enquired about the Android Car Play feature where they also acknowledged that it needs to be installed but costs 2.8k.

Needless to say, I was livid as I now once again need to confront the New Car Sales Executive. Now If he was a decent and honest individual, he will tell the truth and acknowledge the fact that the vehicle was sold to me with this feature and that he not only said it in front of a witness but that we also discussed this over the phone numerous times.

Taking into consideration the previous lies and hassles I had to endure with him I opted to contact the New Vehicle Sales Manager as I thought seeing that he was there to inspect my previous vehicle for trade-in and that we had an understanding about ************ and people taking chances just to get a sale done he would hear my concerns and complaints and try to rectify them.

I was surprised to find out that he has no idea how to deal with customers. He was reluctant to call back or to reply and I had to ask him to please attend to my calls and emails, I should have expected his arrogance as he also avoids numerous questions and takes no responsibility or liability for what his staff does in order to get a vehicle sold.

If you ever wondered how you would be treated by CMH Mazda Hatfield, let me enlighten you.

To the New Vehicle Sales Manager, you’re merely a number on a board, a means to an end and if he can get his sales numbers up be selling you a factory faulted vehicle with half of the features discussed and promised by his new car sales executive, he is fine with that cause the money is in the bank and in his pocket and why should he offer after-sale service? He got what he wanted. He will gladly pawn the problem off to another dealership as he is unwilling to provide me with a loan vehicle, he urges me to rather speak to Mazda Southern Africa as I am unhappy about the service I oh so clearly am not receiving and he will not look into the Android Car Play feature.

The money I pay for this vehicle does not carry have its worth, it is not in a deteriorated state or should ever be cause for worry or concern, so why should I accept a vehicle with factory faults and half its features? Why should I be content with zero to none after-sales customer service? I have had it with people that **** and lie to consumers just to make a sale. I am in my full right to return this vehicle and I have made my intentions to do so clear to this “manager”. He is unwilling to help and I am now forced to take matters further.

People like this should not be in a position of power or even afforded the opportunity to be a brand ambassador for CMH Group. They are damaging your brand reputation. I urge you to look into this matter Mazda Southern Africa/ CMH Group and I implore my fellow South Africans TO NOT SUPPORT CMH Mazda Hatfield or Mazda Southern Africa itself if this is the way you treat people.

My questions to you and all the brand ambassadors for CMH Group, CMH Mazda Hatfield, and Mazda Southern Africa:

Would you be happy with this kind of treatment? Would you be able to sleep at night knowing that you **** just to get a sale done? If this would’ve happened to you, how would you go about warning others as going directly to the source does not help? Would you be content with your wife/daughter/friend’s safety in a faulty vehicle like this? Would you be concerned for your own safety if you had to drive around like this? Would you find this acceptable from a brand new vehicle?

I welcome any comments and or questions about my experience with this branch and brand. Please feel free to contact me in this regard.

Mazda Southern Africa Group you will find my details on your system as I tried to contact you but have received no feedback as of yet and can only leave compliments which this most certainly is not.
