The Minimal Concern of Maxprop!

Almost seven years ago (Dec. 2012) I deemed it necessary to warn the Municipality about the serious danger of Landslip affecting perhaps Kloof's largest Residential Complex. Fissures and cracks were appearing in my garden which directly overlooks one of the complex's units at a dangerous height due to a deep 90 degree excavation the developers had questionably cut in order to build the unit now in harms way. The Municipal Engineers agreed with my concerns and issued Maxprop with a 30 Day Notice to deal with the threat "considered to be dangerous to life and property". This Maxprop disregarded by employing an Engineering Company to simply dispute the threat - which the Municipality inexplicably accepted ignoring its own Engineering Assessment. Five years ago the unit was seriously affected, as warned, and the occupants, luckily unharmed, fled. Nothing was done despite the obvious warning. During the recent floods much greater damage has been caused to the threatened cottage and the terrified occupant - recently arrived - is furious with Maxprop for being less than forthcoming about these warnings and the fact that my garden may yet engulf her home - a threat I can do nothing about and the Municipality - whose job it is to enforce its own bye-laws is, like Maxprop, seemingly unconcerned. "Forewarned is Forearmed" - only so long as you heed the warning!
