Max property won't return deposits after we have been asked to vacate premises

Max prop has a property in pinetown Hillmax which they are renting out. Last week Saturday we received letters from an unknown company advising us that we need to vacate the premises as the building has been sold and we need to be gone withing 60 days. Max prop who is our agent did not even notify us of these new developments. So we have now starting looking for new places however we cannot proceed as max prop now says we must wait 21 days after we move out for our deposits, I know this is correct if the tenant is the one that moved out but in this case they have asked us to vacate so we need our deposits from them so that we can deposit new places. At this rate non of the tenants will be able to vacate as our deposits are not being returned to us.
