Avoid renting your property through Maxprop Residentials!

Maxprop Residential Letting is the worst decision you can ever make. I rented out my property through their Pinetown division in 2017. The division is run by Devika Lazarus. Our agreement was that they will pay levies, deduct their fee then pay me the balance. The account was mismanaged from day one and I had endless fights with Romaine Marion, Naina Ramfol and Nicole Goss. After 3 months I received summons and legal fees for unpaid levies from Fourie Stott Attorneys. This was frustrating because nobody contacted me and I never received a letter from their attorneys.

To add to my woes their tenant Sibo Mdluli didnt pay his rent on time. With no apology for the costs incurred to me Romaine, promised to reconcile the account diligently going forward. At the end of August 2017 when the tenant was relocated to another Maxprop client, Maxprop maintenance did a rushed inspection. They didn't pick up a water leak, which damage 6m square of tiles, as well as missing light bulbs and damage to the sink counter.

The damages totaled around R12000, a quote given by a gentleman they sent. Nicole Goss used the R2000 of the clients deposit to settle his electricity bill.

Maxprop then held on to the balance of R3500 for 4 months. In the meantime I paid R8000 for the repairs and fought with them weekly to get the deposit. In late January Devika Lazarus agreed to release the funds after I threatened to hand them over to the Rental Tribunal. My advice to anyone in South Africa, do not rent your property through Maxprop Residentials. They don't care about your property or your finances.
