Matt Arend Faulty Watch

Hi

I am reaching out to this community, in the hopes of getting any form of help. I have tried to follow the conventional forms of communication to Matt Arend Timepieces, via email, their whatsapp group and phone calls, but neither have proved fruitful.

The phone calls go unanswered and emails get no response. WhatsApp just gets me a "We are looking at it".

My wife bought me a watch for our anniversary in December. The piece was delivered on the 8th of December 2017.

I noticed from day one that the watch was not keeping time, and was constantly ahead. Initially I thought this was due to it being new and overwound or some other unexplained issue, and hoped it would go away after some time. After a week there had been no change, with roughly 10 minutes being gained every day.

This was reported to Matt Arend on the 18th of December, and they advised that they will only be able to assist in January due to the festive season, which is fair enough.

On January 10 the watch was collected. It went to the Cape Town workshop for assessment and repairs.

After an extremely long wait, I received it back on the 12th of March (3 months). I noticed on that same day that it was still doing the exact same thing, gaining time every day. Subsequently I was setting the time every morning.

When setting the time on Friday of the same week, the winder on the side just came out completely. This was reported to them on Monday 19 March, and subsequently sent in for another batch of assessment and repairs. I expressed my immense dissatisfaction that I would most likely have to wait another 3 months, and they advised that it will take 10 business days. The watch was collected on the 26th of March.

And here we are, 16 business days later, and we are not getting any response as to why we still don't have the watch back, or when it will be back.

I am super frustrated. If I said what I wanted to I am sure it would just be censored with a bunch of funny looking symbols for several paragraphs.

The watch itself has been in your possession for nearly all of the 4 months that it has been "mine". I have no guarantee that it will work when I get it back, and I have very strong doubts that it will. At this point I would honestly just like a refund, and to sever all ties with you.

If anybody from Matt Arend sees this, the order number for the latest issue is 31783.
