Terrible experience at Mastro Deli Craighall Park

I was just at the Mastro Deli in Craighall Park. I have been there countless times and my husband and I have spent tens of thousands of Rands there, and I mean tens of thousands from the multiple times that we have ordered food there for catering purposes and purchased items there or even eaten there. We also frequent other Mastroantonio establishments and have done so for years. I did not appreciate how the woman at the prepared food counter spoke to me this morning. I came in looking for melanzane parmigiana which we have bought often when eating there and in our catering orders. The glass shelves were pretty full so I didn't see it at first and asked her if they had but then quickly saw them and asked if I could have two pieces. She decided that it was appropriate to say "you and your husband are going to turn into melanzane soon". At that instant I laughed it off because I actually was shocked and didn't know what to say but as she walked away I actually said that was rude but I brushed it off. She then prepped them and handed them over the counter and said "here is your salad". At this point I said nothing and just looked at her in horror. At the till I asked the lady there if this person was the owner and she said yes. I said well she is incredibly rude. The lovely lady at the till apologised on her behalf. I did not want to make a scene but now that I am home and have thought about it, it is unacceptable that she implies that her customers eat too much of whatever. She body/fat shamed both my husband and I and that is actually disgusting behaviour from someone to a REGULAR client. She should re-evaluate what she deems appropriate to say to paying customers and whether the service industry is actually for her.
