Corrie, who claims he is the owner of Master Paving, visited my house to give me a quote for redoing our paving. During the visit I was very impressed with his professionalism and his knowledge on the type and color paving we need matched as well as his opinion on other contractors who do not perform.

Once Master Paving quoted I was sent an e-mail every second day to confirm whether I received the quote and when can they expect the order.

I had several quotes. I did some research especially on reviews of the several companies and although Master Paving's quote was not the cheapest they looked like the most professional. What a MISTAKE.

After being required to pay a 60% deposit one week before they start they never showed up on the day they need to start. At 10h00 I contacted Corrie to find out where they are. He was ubrupt and stated that it looked like rain and they do not work when it rains and that there people have not showed up for work. I asked why I was not informed. He stated that they do not have power at there offices and he could not call me. Then the story changed that the people were infront of my gate early that morning but he asked them too leave because there was a 80% chance for rain. I stated that I want my deposit back so that I can find another contractor who can execute the work as the sun was shining. He stated that I was unreasonable and that I should phone his "Office Lady" and then hung up.

I phoned his "Office Lady" who shouted at me that I am inhumane to expect people to work in the rain even after I explained to her that the sun is shining. She severely shouted at me and at one point said that I am speaking to a lady like a dog. When I asked who is the one shouting she dropped the call.

The next morning Corrie and his team arrived and he profusely apologised for his "Office Lady's" behaviour and that she will phone me to apologise and put it in writing as it is totally unacceptable. It goes without saying that I am still waiting for this.

That same day I received an invoice for another 20% payment. The contract clearly states that another 20% payment is due on the delivery of the bricks but no bricks was delivered. I refused to pay but I received threatening e-mails saying that I have very little bricks and I must pay. I refused and stated that I will stick to the letter of the contract. The next day half of the bricks was delivered, however, I decided to pay in good faith.

The next day when they started laying the bricks I was not at home and upon my return I noticed the bricks being installed was grey and I have existing tan bricks. I ordered the team to stop. After trying several times to reach Corrie he finally answered. I explained the issue. He blamed everything on the brick layer and then try the new versus old brick excuse. Big difference between grey and tan! Although it was only 3 o'clock in the afternoon he refused to come to site and said he would deal with it on Monday.

The next week the team arrived and finished the job. Since the first day Corrie had not been to site since.

The team left and left the building rubble on my lawn. The building rubble has still not been collected more than a week later.

I mistakenly paid the balance.

In addition Master Paving promises a 10 year guarantee as part of there quote. I have still not received this guarantee.

All attempts to obtain the guarantee and have rubble removed (which I paid) is being ignored. Most probably they once again do not have any power.

If I had read such an review during my research I would have stayed well away from this company and saved myself a lot of money, time and aggrevation.
