Would not recommend IEB program/ Would recommend MasteMaths extra lessons.

The MM IEB program can cost between R30 000- R40 000 to redo Maths and Science.

I will only lists the complaints that NEVER SHOULD HAVE OCCURRED.

Whenever I complained, MasterMaths treated me as if though I was the problem.

I had a very unpleasant experience with them and I think that they will never understand the emotional distress they have caused me.

1. NOISE

I am highly intellectual. However when students and tutors constantly talk or when students smoke every five minutes so much so that it penetrates the workspace, one’s concentration will suffer. It is completely natural. There is nothing wrong with me.

After several complaints MasterMaths moved me from the Garsfontein Centre to Equestria because and I quote “You are sensitive”.

My experience at Equestria was better, however it is UNACCEPTABLE for a manager to allow other students to disrupt learners who are busy with FORMAL IEB EXAMINATIONS or other FORMAL IEB ASSESSMENTS.

I was not the only student who was disadvantaged by this. The HEAD OF OFFICE found no fault with their centers and disregarded the misconduct because “NO ONE ELSE COMPLAINED”.

One of your cleaners at the Equestria centre told me that Garsfontein centre is STILL noisy and STILL a mess. Did you know that? I did not ask her anything, she told me this without me mentioning anything. And I was the problem?

2. SBA: NO FEEDBACK, INCOMPITENT PREPARATION.

I never received any of my SBA projects back to review. To see what I did wrong or right and how I could improve.

“Not only will Master Maths centres uphold the excellent quality of education expected from the IEB, they will also make sure that learners do well enough in mathematics and physical science for a better future.”

THIS IS NOT ALWAYS TRUE. This a very bold and incredibly difficult task and this statement should not be made.

On a side note: MasterMaths, why did you never email your students to inform them of their results? Why did I have to email you to ask when my certificate will be issued? I am fully aware that I can view my results online. Why did your company not congratulate learners upon completion? Why did you not wish us your best with our future endeavors?

Add some FLAIR and CARE to your services. It’s easy and it’s worth it.

I WOULD NOT recommend the IEB Maths or Science program.

I WOULD recommend the MasterMaths program to any student WHO wishes to seek additional help while still in High School.

I can state that the theoretical content and CD interaction is excellent and well designed.

I would inform your tutors what peripheral vision is and have theirs tested.

Master Maths, you are not doing me a favor by serving me. I, and all the other clients, parents and students are DOING YOU A FAVOUR by committing to using your services and paying your fees. PLEASE REMEMBER THIS and take the review to heart.

e

Hi there,
Firstly, I would like to apologise for not congratulating you on the completion of the programme. We will make this part of our standard procedure going forward. Our centres form close relationships with their upgrade learners, so not congratulating you might have been an oversight.
Unfortunately we could not personally give you the results because our offices were closed during the time of release. All learners were informed that they could access the IEB website for their results ahead of time. We will also investigate your comments about the certificate (I have been made aware that you have received the information via other correspondence).
I am very sorry to hear that you think we did not take your complaints seriously. When you raised a query, we immediately contacted the centre and took action. When you complained about the noise we moved you to a smaller centre. However, it is clear that you were not satisfied with the actions taken. We have not had any other complaints about the noise level at the centre (or the other issues you raised), but we will certainly investigate it again.
From our perspective I can only state that the IEB upgrade programme has been a major success for many learners around the country. Last year was the first year we offered the upgrade programme for physical science and we achieved an 83% pass rate. This is quite something, considering many of the learners never had physical science before.
We also had 6 distinctions for maths and 3 for physical science. Many learners who did not have the opportunity to further their studies (due to their maths or physical science marks) can now do so.
We wish you the best for your endeavours going forward.
Kind Regards
