poor work by this company
I had the unfortunate experience of hiring Masilela Construction to handle the restoration of my home after a fire two to three months ago, and I regret the decision entirely. Working with them, in collaboration with Miway Insurance, has been a nightmare from start to finish.
First off, the workmanship was shockingly poor. Masilela Construction cut corners at every opportunity, which became glaringly evident in the quality of their work.
The materials they used were subpar, to say the least. From the very start, I noticed they were using cheap, low-quality products that I would never expect for a restoration project of this scale. The doors, for example, were not only poorly installed but they trap moisture and won’t close properly, which means they’re now a permanent issue. I can’t even use some of them without dealing with warping or sticking.
The paintwork was equally terrible. It looks like they rushed through the entire job, with uneven coats and paint splatters on surfaces that should have been protected. It gives the entire house a sloppy, unfinished look.
Then there were the door handles—the sharp edges on them are so dangerous that I’m afraid someone might get hurt just by walking by. I had to replace the handles because they were an accident waiting to happen. The hinges on the cabinets were also poorly installed, and within a couple of weeks, cabinets started falling off. I’m left trying to repair things that should never have been an issue in the first place.
As for the electrical work, don’t even get me started. The circuit breakers they installed were not only the cheapest options available, but they also don't function properly, adding more stress and potential safety concerns to an already overwhelming situation.
It’s clear that Masilela Construction is more interested in cutting costs than providing quality service. Every step of the way, they took the cheapest route, leaving me with a home that’s not only unsafe but also looks poorly maintained.
When I tried to address these issues with the company, their response was nothing short of dismissive. They’ve been unwilling to take responsibility or even come back to fix the problems they created. It’s been impossible to get them to address the shoddy work or rectify any of the damage they’ve caused.
