DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE! I read the reviews, but went ahead trusting anyway. Now I am out of pocket with a broken instrument and no recourse.

You think by sticking to a brand that you'll have some form of guarantee...... NOPE. My 19 year old son saved up in order to buy a bigger guitar and went ahead with the transaction in April 2019 at Marshall Music in Faerie Glen. He purchased a Valencia Classic 400. He treasured it, taking care of it, etc, but despite this, 5 months later, I heard a load bang one morning and upon investigating found the guitar on the floor (where it was standing up against a stand) neck snapped. Did I mention I was home alone? I was dumbfounded! We took it back to Marshall Music in Faerie Glen thinking surely the guitar must still be under guarantee, being a Valencia and all, and they (after we had to follow up after a week) eventually sent it in for an assessment. Almost immediately we heard back that this was in fact our fault in that we had dropped the guitar. Needless to say I was outraged. We would have had to have dropped it from a first floor window! How else would the neck snack off with a clean break like that?! NO offer of resolution from staff, management or owners. My take on this is that they sell inferior quality equipment, and the paying customer is left with no recourse and fitting the replacement bill. They will take NO responsibility. SHAME ON YOU to be quick to take a poor student's hard earned money. Did I mention their arrogant, rude and obnoxious 'service'? To add insult to injury, we also handed his junior guitar in (still in excellent condition after 9 years) to be restrung. Upon hand-in we were told that it would cost R180. When we followed up as to when it will be ready, the price quoted suddenly went up to R250. In closing: MARSHALL MUSIC, you are a disgrace to the industry. Your website says, and I QUOTE: 'We pride ourselves in providing outstanding quality and service to all our clients because we know that from Liszt to Hendrix and Paganini to Coltrane, the relationship between musicians and their instruments is fundamental to the development of music.' What a farce. SHAME ON YOU. SIES!
