Worst Ever!
I must say that purchasing this motorcycle from Marshall Motorsports as been a truly disappointing experience. To begin . . . I am from the United States and was coming to South Africa to do a three month motorcycle tour of this amazing country.
I found Marshall’s adverti*****t a 2011 BMW 1200GS (BTW according to BMW it is actually a 2010) on Gumtree and contacted Marshall’s about purchasing this bike. After having a friend take a look at the bike, I agreed to purchase (at the full price Marshall’s were asking). They sent me an Invoice and informed me if I wished to pay by United States credit card you would add an addition 3% (a fee that I have never heard of before and is ******* in most countries) . . . but I agreed. After more than a week Marshall’s informed me that they could not process my credit card without it being present. Marshall’s then asked if I could transfer the funds to your bank and again I agreed . . . I sent $8900 US dollars or R113,920.00 (at a 12.8 which was the exchange rate on 24/7/2017) . . . when I cam to pickup the bike on 29/7/2017 the invoice you gave me was for R111,277.00 . . .
I arrived on 29/7/2017 to pickup the bike and was told the difference in amounts was do to bank transfer fees . . . what happened to the remaining R2643.00 . . . there is never this kind of fee added to a bank transfer!
The bike started rough … I thought this was just due the bike not having been run for a while and not warmed up . . . by the time I got home the bike would barely run . . . as I was close by I took the bike to Uhmlanga BMW . . . the service manager came back amazed . . . it was completely missing one of the spark coils. I called Marshall’s and they agreed to come pickup the bike and repair it. After I picked up the bike from Marshall’s it still did not feel right by the time I got home . . . so once again I took it to Uhmlanga BMW and they did a full test and discovered that not only did you install the wrong coil . . . neither top coil was working properly . . . Uhmlanga BMW was nice enough to only charge me for two new coils (R3500 BTW) . . .
What is obvious to me is that no one at Marshall’s even cared enough to ever test ride this bike (before or after they claimed to have fixed it) . . . so I can only conclude Marshall’s doesn’t really care about the bikes they sell or the service that they do . . .
Marshall’s has been amazingly un-professional to deal with and I will not do business with them again . . .
