Horrific Service.

Shocking service. Actually, no service at all.

Marsh moved their personal lines from Constantia to Discovery in October 2019 and they corresponded that the premium, cover, t's and c's would all remain the same as it was at Constantia. Further, they said that additional benefits such as Discovery Drive would be included free of charge.

After the book move, certain things changed. Where should I begin?

My (male) partner was suddenly a Ms with her own unique passport number which does not resemble my partner's. My partner was suddenly a female and his initials suddenly changed as well. Okay, so this I requested to have corrected immediately, I had to contact Discovery myself eventually to push to correct this.

But when they corrected this, the rate for my partner's vehicle insurance went up, because, you know, he was now a male, and men are a higher risk.

What about the rest of my policy you ask? Yes, there were some funny things there as well.

My cover changed. Suddenly I am not covered for certain things anymore. I had an accidental death benefit. Now? Nope. I was covered for identity theft... Now? Nope. I had R10m liability insurance, now? Nope. You only get R2.5m. The terms and conditions changed, my premium changed. Oh, and those additional benefits? I'm paying for them. And above all, my premium for my vehicles went up.

I spent 3 weeks asking them to correct it. The only thing they were able to correct was the Personal Liability which they increased the cover for back to R10m. But, none of my other queries could be fixed.

After 3 weeks they sent me what they consider to be a corrected Policy Schedule back. Needless to say, none of the remaining queries were addressed or corrected. It is as if I communicated with a brick wall the last 3 weeks.

If are thinking of using Marsh to be your broker, think again... They'll gladly take your money, but won't help you at all. Expect to be extravagantly disappointed by one of the biggest brokers in the world. Rather go for your local broker down the road...
