Selling prescibed accounts

I would like to know how Markhams can hand over an account to debt collectors after almost 7 years with no payments or payment arrangements. I know by law that this account should have been prescibed already but when i checked my ITC report was shocked to see SSDA listed i called them and was told that they got the account from Markhams last year june. And the worst part is that they never even çontacted us but they are reflecting on my credit report. A heads up to Markhams short out this **** with SSDA and remove my name and send me the clearance letter otherwise i will report you guys to the ombudsman because you know and i know what you are doing is ********.
