Mark Jackson Photography shattered my wedding memories. A lesson to all who hire photographers for their special day, please choose carefully! I have tried for a very long time to avoid going public like this. But it’s been well over a year and I feel it is necessary to share this information with people who ever plan on working with photographer, Mark Jackson. He was a Cape Town based photographer whom we hired in March of 2024 to shoot photographs for my wedding. I had researched him and he was revered in the wedding industry and had great reviews. We paid him R16 000 upfront and additionally another R5000 to later put together some printed and bound photo books for myself, parents and in-laws. He shot beautiful pictures of us on the day. But the professionalism soon started to deteriorate. We waited over 4 months which is understandable having many different weddings and events to shoot. We loved our digital photos. I was asked by Mark to make selections per book which I did. The book selections were done in October. Mark at this point was becoming scarce and promised they’d be ready by either November or December. January went past and no word, then another two months. He was not answering my messages or calls and I soon realised he had blocked my emails. I started reaching out to friends of his on Facebook as I had become desperate to try to resolve this. Only after I had contacted a friend of his through Facebook who I shared my screenshots with did he FINALLY respond to me. He then explained that “he had been going through a hard time. And that he would get my albums to me as soon as he had the money to print them.” Which means he spent our R5000 clearly on other things. I was furious but tried to be calm, he showed me a video of how the selections and layout of the books looked on his computer and explained the books were ready to print, he just needed more money to come in. I mean who does this!? Then another month silence, again calling and messaging until finally he said that I would have the albums in June of this year. I waited. Nothing. I started messaging and calling again and this time I threatened to get a lawyer involved, I had had it. But as we were getting a lawyer involved much to my horror we discovered that Mark had left the country. He has now tried to block me through communication won’t even read my messages and I am having to resort to messaging his family members on Facebook. This experience is heartbreaking not only having lost family, but being treated so poorly and with no ounce of humanity. What infuriates me is that he has done this to other clients as well that I have spoken to. You can run to other countries Mark, but you cannot run from yourself or the consequences that f your own actions. If anyone knows Mark personally and can get through to him or knows if he is coming back to SA please dm me. Do not EVER work with this man, his photos are beautiful but are not worth the trauma you will experience. Mark Jackson is a *****.
