Poor Quality and lack of acknowledgment and service from Maribu Leather

I purchased 2 x crossbody bags from the clearwater branch in December 2021. In April 2022 , i started seeing patches on my one bag . I took it to the stall on the 27th April 2022 , pictures were taken and i was told that i would be called the ffg day. I received no call , and on the Sunday 01st May , i went back to the stall. Assisted by another gentlemen Derek , who took pictures again , and proceeded to tell me he would put this on the group chat and speak to the directors , but it looked like stains from Alcohol. He called me back later to tell me that the director said that there was no problem with the leather , so they could not give me a new bag , but they could discount a new one ! I never asked for a new one, i wanted the current one repaired . Instead of taking it in and validating the issue with the product ,they chose to blame the consumer. These bags cost R700 , i bought 2, and when i bought them i was given a big sales pitch about the quality and support from the team, which i now find is *******. I will never reccomend your product to anyone, as i saw first hand that you are not willing to even bother for your customers.

Dear Avasthi,

We were made aware of your situation with the mink crossbody on 27 April and first wanted to assess the rest of the stock and leather to assess if your claim of the leather peeling was accurate and if the problem was occurring. We do use the leading tannery in SA and produce over a thousand bags a month and haven’t seen this issue before. We did not have the actual bag so it was difficult to assess it using the photos. There are no marks or spots on the rest of the mink bags in stock, nor the mink leather, thus we came to the conclusion that it must have been an accidental spill (Leather does absorb oil/liquids) or something else that damaged the bag. It is highly unlikely that spots will just appear on the leather after 4months. We did go out of our way still by offerring you a heavily discounted replacement bag but you declined the offer. Even though it wasn’t our fault, we still tried to assist you and it is unfortunate that you are still unhappy. Unfortunately our warranty does not cover these damages.

Kind Regards
Maribu Leather Team
