Unattended air-con regas turned into R20 000+ damage nightmare

On Wednesday 27th September 2023 I took my FULLY SEVICED 100% working Nissan X Trail to Jaco at Margate Auto Electrical. I took my car Aircon system to have the aircon gas refill End April. By June I realised there was a problem. I was nursing a friend and could only return to the dealer end September. For a while I while I noticed the aircon is not working.

I asked Jaco what is the problem he connected the appliance and checked and said "yes there is no gas." I asked why, what can the problem be, he said he don't know but he will refill and also use a colour substance that will show if there is a leak. Then I must take my car back next week Wednesday to check if the gas dropped. he connected the appliance, there was a disturbing sound, the engine was running while filling the gas I called Jaco and asked what is this sound never ever did I hear it and is doesn't sound good to me, he said it is nothing it happens when you refill the aircon gas. he got in his car to go somewhere, asked Bianca to watch the appliance and at a certain stage disconnect. She is the receptionist. She was busy with clients, telephone calls, etc. I was standing all alone next to my car. When he came back he rushed to the appliance and disconnected it, I had to drive down the road and heard it sounded like this car is now going to crash bearings, I decided to turn around and go back to ask him to drive around the block because something upsetting was wrong. On my way in the middle of the road between 1 and 2 rush hour hectic traffic my car just stopped dead, I was in a terrible shock as the Trucks and Busses passed me. Marine drive is a very busy road. My friend called him and told him I'm standing on a extremely dangerous spot he must please go and check. He came there fiddled with the battery got into my car and and turned the key. There was a upsetting BANG!!! and a lot of smoke coming from the engine and you could smell something burning, I thought the engine was burning, I said what happened he said your aircon compressors exploded and burnt. I SAID BUT I MENTIONED THE DISTURBING SOUND AND YOU SAID IT W AS NOTHING?!He jumped my battery advised me to drive to his shop fitted a new battery, I paid cash on the spot, I asked him can he fix the burnt compressor and he said Nooooooo, this is a lot of work and thousands of rand and he have to order it. It will be there late Thursday afternoon I can bring my car Friday morning. I asked for a quote, he couldn't give me the amount. Called late Friday afternoon and said I can bring my car Monday he have to strip parts to get to the compressor and on a couple of bucks around R20 000. I made a couple of calls spoke to a couple of people specialising in aircon and refill and yes R20 000 to cough up for me a single pensioner lady who took a very well-maintained car and end up with ridiculous costly damage. They should have insurance. I suggest he claim from his insurance and because I have no trust in their way of dealing have my car fixed with a specialist. He said I can drive there is nothing wrong with my car THIS CAN HAPPEN IT IS NOT UNKOWN? ?? but there is still a funny sound when I start my car, I am too afraid to drive around and cause further damage. I called this morning to tell him I am not happy with the way this situation was handled and him getting in his car leaving me alone and that I spoke to a number of people, and I am going to report this to whoever, I am NOT happy and prepared to suffer R20 000 damage. I will also go to social media and will not have him to repair as I now have no trust. If a common refill of aircon gas turned out this way I don't feel safe with the way they work. He just said he is sorry for the way I feel, Not sorry... for the damage let's see what we can do, no he conveniently just walk away from the situation. I read a lot on google why this happened and the one part makes sense, "The technician will remove the old refrigerant, MEASURE IT and then replace or recharge it with the correct amount of new refrigerant. Prior ro recharging they will also vacuum the system to remove excess moisture and air-ONE OF THE BIGGEST CAUSES OF PREMATURE A/C FAILURE, and I assume the reason it did not work. ALSO READ "Too little and your vehicle's cooling performance will be compromised HOWEVER TOO MUCH, AND IT COULD CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE COMPRESSOR ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PARTS OF THE A/C SYSTEM. As said he got in his car and drove off and I was standing alone at my car till he returned?!?
