No service without a refund from Margaret De Kock

<p>In September of 2016, in the process of selling my house, I enquired with the transfer attorney (Eugene Peyper) as to whether or not there was somebody that they would be willing to recommend in respect of acquiring house plans on my behalf. I was directed to Margaret De Kock who offers such a service. I was originally told that it would cost me in the region of R600 to have her get the plans.</p> <p> </p> <p>On contacting Ms De Kock, I was told that the price would be R3200. Although somewhat taken aback given the original information I was provided, I decided to engage her as I've been through the "house plans" runaround once before when selling a house and didn't want to do it myself again. I negotiated with her that I'd pay R2000 up-front and the remainder on receipt of the plans.</p> <p> </p> <p>Periodically I would enquire with Ms De Kock as to progress and every time I did I was met with excuses about issues of disorganisation at the relevant local office. Of course, the whole reason why I employed someone to do this for me is so that I would be insulated from this and I believe given the monetary outlay, together with the solid credentials of the referring organisation (Eugene Peyper) a reasonable expectation would be an expeditious resolution.</p> <p> </p> <p>Given that I do not have any plans and that it does not look like I will receive them, I have reasonably asked for my money back (three times now). This has not been forthcoming.</p> <p> </p> <p>Despite having made promises about timeframes on multiple occasions, and despite me reasonably requesting my money back when the corresponding deadlines weren't met, there has been no reciprocal action.</p> <p> </p> <p>If you ever need house plans sourced when selling your house, please be sure to *not* engage Margaret De Kock for the same - I have no house plans and I've sunk R2000 into this endeavour with no view of recompense. I am emigrating in a week and have no more time or effort to spend on this matter. Despite many promises to the contrary, Ms De Kock does *not* keep her word.</p>
