Poor workmanship and unfinished project despite full payment
We hired Map Company at the end of May 2025 to extend our house and build two outbuilding rooms (ground and first floor). The scope of work included extensions, ceiling and tile installation in five rooms, electrical work, painting, plumbing and general finishing. Unfortunately, we are extremely disappointed with the quality of work and lack of communication from the company. There are cracks on several walls and the painting was done incorrectly, they used gloss paint on the exterior and exterior paint inside the house. They also failed to remove an old door frame, used non-SABS-approved plumbing materials and did not install the geysers, kitchen sinks or interior doors as agreed. We had to spend our own money to complete parts of the work ourselves, including ceilings, rhinolite, tiles and paint in several rooms. The balcony remains incomplete and the main house ceiling is still unpainted. Despite paying the full amount, Map Company has not completed the job and stopped communicating with us for over a month now. We are disappointed by the lack of accountability and professionalism. We would appreciate immediate contact from the company to fix the defects and complete the project as per the original agreement.
