Patient Safety Concerns

I am extremely concerned about the service I received from Manor Pharmacy yesterday, 25th August 26,

My essential chronic medication, which has previously been covered 100% by Discovery Health, was unavailable at Clicks and Discheme. At Manor Pharmacy I was told that I would have to pay approximately R600 before the medication could be dispensed. No satisfactory explanation was provided for why I suddenly had to pay.

After contacting Discovery Health, I was informed that Manor Pharmacy apparently did not submit or correctly process the claim. This is particularly concerning because the medication is vital for my chronic condition.

As a result of not receiving my medication, my medication level dropped and I suffered a seizure this morning, 26/08. Fortunately, I was not driving at the time. This was a serious and potentially life-threatening patient-safety issue.

This is not merely a customer-service issue—it concerns the safe and continuous supply of essential chronic medication.
