Dissapointing Meal at Manna Epicure

<p>We had dinner at Manna on the7th. July which was our first & perhaps our last experience of a meal there. I booked a table in the corner as it was a cold evening. Our table had been given to another couple who were asked to move,very embarrassing. The starter of mussels was good, but the duck I ordered was dry & excessively over spiced. I mentioned that I have difficulty with dry food and asked for a jus, I was given a small bowl of gravy from the lamb shank which was excessively salty ! My husband had ordered the lamb shank. We exchanged dishes and my husband ate the duck (which he said was far from being the best duck he had ever had) and I tried a small taste of his lamb shank which was so over salted it was inedible. As I had lost my appetite I asked them to box the bone and pieces of meat cut onto the plate. We soldiered on to try dessert which was disappointing.</p> <p>Yes,we should have complained immediately & ordered other dishes but we had a busy day and were tired so had hoped to relax with a good meal which it certainly was not.</p> <p>When I opened the takeaway box there was a bone but the Lamb meat I had cut off (not for our own consumption I will add) was missing. This was the last straw so I wrote to the owner.....Agnes responded with an apology re the table mix up. I found part of her response was defensive re the duck , told me all the meat had gone into the box (not true) as she said it was on camera !</p> <p>Then admitted that she had tasted the shank and yes it was excessively salted & her chef would correct the mistake !!! Not good enough Agnes, you are not a inexpensive restaurant by any means , any good restaurant would immediately offer either dinner for 2 or at the very least offer another meal for the Lamb Shank you admitted was not good. What you should not do is send back over defensive correspondence saying "we hope to see you here again". !! Be glad Gordon Ramsey has not visited your restaurant !!</p>
