Ridiculous that Mango Airlines dont cover malicious damage to your bag when under their supervision!
I flew from Jhb (OR) to CT on 24 April with Mango because they were cheaper than the airline I usually fly with... now I know why. My bag was damaged while under their supervision and they stated they do not cover for bag damage to locks. I called call centre numerous times to sit on hold, and eventually gave up, I also emailed which got no response (been 4 days). Eventually today someone answers the guest care line but tells me the news of no cover for bag damage. My bag was maliciously broken into, they cut the lock off and the hole mechanisms on the bag, so now I have to go buy new bag that will lock for when I fly. It was clearly cut with a tool and did not just break on its own! Ridiculous that they dont take responsibility for that! With all the fees we pay to fly, cant they set up cameras to catch these guys that are breaking into bags!? I mean really. The strangest thing is that they rummaged around in my stuff but didnt take anything, so now I'm just left with a broken bag that Mango refuses to pay for, "they only cover clothing". Ridiculous!! Considered saying clothes were ****** just so I could get the cost of new bag and lock covered, but I'm too honest for that! I refuse to pay R70 to wrap my bag in 'cling wrap' essentially (which was suggested when I reported it, the cheek!!) If these guys can cut a metal lock and metal bag mechanisms, then I think they can manage to cut through some wrapped plastic!! Not satisfied with Mango's customer service response at all (base of my rating). Flight was fine though. I'll stick with Kulula who I've never had a problem claiming from before (for delayed/cancelled flight), their response was fast and I had my money back within days. From Mango I cant even get an email responded to within days or the phone answered until the 5th day trying. Unhappy fruit flyer!
