Mango keeps one on hold

On 3 May 2017 I received an sms from Mango that my flight JE534 from PLZ - JNB at 08:25 on 17 May 2017 had been changed to flight JE538 leaving at 14:00 on the same day - no apology or alternative offered. As I had a long standing appointment with a specialist, Prof (Dr) W McIntosh at 13:00 on 17 May in Jo'burg this change was unacceptable to me.

The only alternative appointment I could get was for 11:45 on 18 May, which meant that my return flight Mango JE529 leaving Jo'burg at 11:40 on 18 May was not an option. I phoned Mango on 4 May wanting to change this return booking to JE541 departing JNB at 16:20, at no cost to me as the change was due to their change in my forward flight. After holding for about 30 minutes I eventually got through to consultant who referred my request to his supervisor who said they could not make this change without additional charges. I asked to speak to the supervisor and got transferred back to the switch board with no response after a further wait of ~10 minutes. I phoned Mango again and after a wait of about 10 minutes got through to a consultant by the name of Ingrid who said she would have to refer me to Guest Care. After a further wait of ~10 minutes the call was cut off. This information was e-mailed as a complaint to ********** with no response to date.

As I was not getting any response from Mango I eventually had to rebook my return flight on-line at an additional fee of R280 as per Mango booking reference PMTSJG which I consider to be totally unjustified as the problem had been caused by Mango's rescheduling of my flight booked on Travelstart ref. ZA ********** 1.

All this inconvenience has been caused by Mango's change in flight schedule and their abysmal customer service.

David Going (for Fiona Going)

**********
