Mango ignores when their staff *****

My husband and I travelled on September 30 on Flight JE161. On arriving in Cape Town his lock had been broken off, his once very neat bag was now a mess inside and his toiletries had also been rifled through. You indemnify the airline against valuables being in your bag like laptops etc but how else are you meant to transport your clothes and liquids over 100ml. Needless to say, this was Mango's reply:

"Kindly note, the very nature of handling baggage, in an airport environment, from check in, to an aircraft and into the arrivals baggage hall, involves mechanical and manual control. Due to the manner of handling, it does mean that a certain amount of wear and tear or even damage may occur.

Regrettably all damages relating to the wheels, handles, zips, locks, the support and frame structures, dents, minor incisions, minor cracks and scuff marks are all not repaired by Mango. This clause is also stipulated in our booking terms and conditions of carriage under the heading Policies and Disclaimer. All fragile goods are also accepted under the passenger’s own liability and the airline is indemnified against any damages. Passengers’ who has opted to pay the extra travel insurance fee may claim for certain damages and losses not covered by the airline.

We are regrettably unable to assist with this particular claim."

I am not asking that out of the ordinary stowed items be replaced, I am asking that staff do not open bags that are locked and ***** items from them.

I am awaiting a further response.
