Flight change costs me a fortune!

Dear Mango

I had a flight booked on Saturday 28 October at 19h30 on reference QBDTVQ from Johannesburg to Durban. Flight number was JE265. This was my return flight home after travelling from the USA. I was scheduled to land in Johannesburg from Atlanta on Delta Int at 17h35 on 28 October, which would allow enough time for me to board the Mango flight back home. On Friday 27 October at 13h32, I received an sms stating “Dear Valued Mango Guest. Please be advised that your flight JE265 on 28 Oct 2017 is now departing at 17h25. Kind regards. Mango Schedule Team.” This was while I was still in the USA and getting ready to leave. Firstly, I found this totally unacceptable! Secondly, it was impossible for me to make this new time as my flight from Atlanta was only scheduled to land in Johannesburg at 17h35. I was forced to book an alternative flight on SAA, which cost me R1819.00 for 19h00 on the same day. What made matters so much worse was that when I was boarding my SAA flight, I saw that the Mango Flight JE265 was delayed and only departed at 19h45! The entire experience was such an unnecessary stress and waste of money. I demand a refund of my flight costs which I needed to spend on SAA to the amount of R1819.00. This cost would not have been necessary if Mango did not take their client’s schedules for granted.
