On Sunday 23rd October my father in law passed away. He was due to travel with his wife from Durban to Cape Town on Mango Airlines. On Monday the 24th I contacted the airlines to enquire what the process is for cancelation of the tickets. I was informed both tickets will be refunded once I send them a copy of the death certificate. On the 27th I sent the copy of the death certificate to the email address given. The email bounced back and I called Mango again only for them to tell me that I need to send the email to guestcare. I sent the email and heard nothing from them. On the 2nd November I followed up only to them be told sent it to mangorefunds. I sent it to Mango refunds and then got told that both tickets will not be refunded, only my father in laws ticket will be refunded, my mother in laws ticket will be converted into a voucher, Also there is a cost implication of R280 per refund and per voucher processed. Still I heared nothing back. By the 7th I contacted Mango again, no one had even looked at the email. I was told everything will be sorted by the end of the work day. I informed them that we needed to book tickets from Cape Town to Durban for the first week in December and I needed the voucher because if we don't use it, it will expire. I was told how to make an online booking and to pay within 48hours. By this morning I had still not recieved the voucher, so I called again, only to be asked the same questions again, I was then told that the voucher would be processed and sent through immediately. I also requested to speak to a manager/supervisor and they were apparently unavailable, my name and number was noted for them to come back to me. 2hours later I receve the voucher and the amount is R100 short. I call mango yet again and speak to the same person. She tells me that the fee to process is R380. I told her but I have it on email that its R280. I requested to speak to a manager again. after ten minutes of being placed on hold I then had to explain everything yet again. I was also then told the voucher is in fact valid for 6 months and that the refund would take 7-14working days. Every call I made to Mango I waited almost 15minutes just to get through to someone. It has been an absolute nightmare dealing with the airlines during such a difficult time in our lives. Being a frequent Mango flyer, it makes me strongly consider chooing another airline when flying locally. The matter is still not resolved and I still await a call from the supervisor.
