Do not use them if time is important
Only book on Mango if you are prepared to fly whenever, because chances are good that they will reschedule your flight. On 14 March I booked return flights for 4 people from Johannesburg to Durban for our MSC cruise from 20 to 25 Nov. On 21 Jun I received a SMS that our return flight at 14:05 was cancelled and we are moved to the 11:40 flight. I was worried that we might not be on time, but they didn’t respond to my e-mail or answer their phone. At 21:28 the evening before our flight to Durban (after already checked-in online) I received a SMS that out 8:40 flight was moved to 9:35. That mean we would only land at 10:45 (if they depart on time) and having to wait for our luggage would miss our 11:00 shuttle from the airport to the harbour. I had to pay almost R4000 for 4 seats on Safair’s 8:10 flight. Checking the boards at the airport we noticed that all the Mango flights were delayed. On our return all the Mango flights (except our flight) were delayed, with the 17:45 flight only at 22:00. I visited their counter a 6am that morning, but the guy there didn’t sound too positive that I would get a refund. You think you are saving a few rand by using them, but you will end up buying expensive last minute tickets from another airline.
