On 4 November 2016 my husband and I travelled to King Shaka airport in Durban using Mango airlines. I am a paraplegic guest and well in advance we submitted the required medical document to Mango as instructed on the website to arrange our travelling in terms of my disability. The department rep**** and notified us that everything in this regard is in order and ready for our travelling, and I can be honest and say that this flight went 100% in terms of the assistance I required and the seat I was placed at for disbled persons.

On 7 November we travlled back to OR Tambo with Mango airlines and during this flight Ihad a really bad experience. First off the lady at the check-in counter placed me in the second row that is not allocated for disabled persons and therefore has limited space for the assistance I require. The two persons who were at task to transfer me from my wheelchair into the airplane seat struggled so much due to this lack of space. Paraplegics have an added risk of breaking bones due to the development of Osteoporosis and all I could think of while they struggled to move my"dead weight" was the fear of breaking more bones in my legs and the utter embaressment of everyone looking at this uncomfortable attempt. Iasked one of the air hostesses if my husband and I couldn't please rather move to the open seats in front of us, as this row has enough space as it is allocated for disabled guests. She politely said no and explained that I am required to sit in the seat where I am booked. I feel that they could've personally gone back to the counters and changed my seats when seeing how difficult this task was for us.

During the flight only one crew member occupied the two open seats in front of us that had referred to. This made me livid! Upon arrival at OR Tambo a lady was sent to assist a male to transfer me out of my airplane seat into my wheelchair. I have in the past also complained about the fact that Mango makes use of females for these jobs. My problem is that it is a very labour intensive task to transfer a person like myself, especially in limited space as I was put in.

I sent an email with this complaint to Mango's customer care on 8 November 2016, without any reply. On 22 November I phoned the Customer Care line on ********** 002 and spoke to "Cinzia" who promised that someone would get back to me, however no onw ever did. I expect feedback on this matter.
