Deliberate and targeted theft

On Saturday 18 August 2018 we had an early morning flight booked from JHB to Durban. We had checked in online, so we went straight through security and to the boarding gates. Before getting on the plane, we were stopped by the ground staff to say that the plane was full and that they had to take our bags. My husband refused as he had an incident of staff going through his bags a month before, and he was allowed on the plane with his bag. I was told to leave my bag, at which point I asked for a cable tie as my bag was not secure. Whilst waiting for the cable tie, my husband called to say that there was ample space for luggage on the plane, and that I should come through with my bag. I informed the staff of this, and said I was going ahead at which point I was physically manhandled and stopped. Not wanting to cause a scene, and took the cable tie, secured my bag and left it with them. Minutes later, I was seated on the plane and saw other passengers getting on the plane with their luggage (the overhead bins were indeed empty). On arrival in Durban, my bag was one of the first off the plane, and I immediately noticed that the cable tie had been broken off. I opened the bag, and the contents were still neatly packed exactly as I had left them, and nothing seemed to be amiss. The reason for our trip was to see an ill family member in hospital, so we left the airport to get to the hospital without complaining about the broken cable tie. That evening, I unpacked my bag and needed to charge my running watch for a run the next morning. At that point I realized that my Garmin watch, which was a birthday gift received just 2 weeks ago, was missing along with its charging cable. The watch, valued at over R10k, was in a pouch on top of all the clothing in the suitcase, along with other chargers. I went to report this to the staff at Mango at King Shaka airport the next day, and was told to report this in JHB, which I did. The JHB staff also did nothing, and asked me to send an email to customer services. This blatant ******** act is obviously of no concern to the airline, who empower their staff to target certain individuals, who are powerless to hand over unsecured luggage which has been packed as hand luggage, meant to be in the passengers possession at all times. I expect speedy resolution on this matter, and for my device to be replaced immediately.
