Baggage Lock broken and Luggage Contents ****** on Mango Airlines 2019

On Sunday 28 June 2019 I took a flight JE161 on Mango Airlines from JHB to CPT. The flight from JHB was delayed and we arrived in Cape Town at 10:00pm on the Sunday evening. Upon collecting my suitcase from the conveyer belts, to my huge disappointment I discovered my suitcase had been forced open, the baggage zipper lock being completely broken and all the bag contents were ruffled and messed up including my cosmetics and makeup bags being emptied and contents thrown all over inside the bag. I immediately went to report this to Princess at the Mango Baggage Counter the same evening. Considering it was already past 10PM on a Sunday night they took down my details and gave me a Reference Slip number 23745 advising me to report this to customer services the next day, which I did. The damages to my bag meant I can't use a lock again to secure the bag because the lock clips have been broken off. Apart from the bag lock clasp being completely damaged, when I got home later than night I discovered a few Small items were ****** from my bag and because it is light in weight there was no significant weight difference. On Friday 05 July 2019 the response I got from Nondyebo at Mango Airlines customer care is that they apologise for the inconvenience caused, however damage to baggage is not covered by the airline. This I find shocking to say the least. How is it that my large suitcase was damaged In-Flight yet the airline claims its not their fault, then whose fault is it ? According to Mango all incidences of theft must be reported to their offices within 24 hours of your flight (even though I reported it immediately when I got off the plane), and there is no discrepancy in weight and therefore no compensation will be paid. (even though there was a weight discrepency of under 1KG because the items that was ****** from my bag whilst in transit, was light in weight. ). Furthermore, what makes me even more disappointed in Mango is that being a frequent traveller ,I travel at least twice a month on both business and leisure, and Mango Airlines was always my first choice of airline. However given my first hand experience on how bad they treat their loyal customers I must say I am disgusted at this type of response from the airline. All the time that was wasted at the airport having to go to the FLYMANGO baggage counter at 10PM on a Sunday night waiting in a queue just in order to submit the report, this was all unnecessary waste of time. Furthermore the damaged bag lock and my suitcase means I am no longer able to use because of it being broken by a pliers deliberately by baggage handlers hence my large hard case luggage bag is now not safe to travel anymore. Mango has proven that they not willing to take any responsibility for ************ baggage handlers which they hired to look after our luggage. As a result of this I am now forced to purchase a new luggage bag which is unnecessary cost. The amount of Inconvenience this whole scenario has caused me is enough to convince me to travel with another airline in future. Mango Airlines has lost a very loyal customer. Kind Regards, Naz
