Answering legitimate questions with self-serving intrusive questions
I recently interacted with your Desiree van der Merwe, after seeing a property advertised on Property24. I used the website's functionality to send clear questions to Desiree. This is the only way she received my contact details. So she must have received the questions at the same time. She responded via Whatsapp. She did not answer my questions. Instead, she started asking me questions about my personal circumstances, financial position, etc. This is not the kind of service/response I expect from estate agents, most of whom politely answer any questions posed by prospective tenants and then show the property to the prospective tenant. Instead, Desiree seemed intent on merely adding to her sales database, possibly violating POPIA, certainly not operating on an honest and transparent basis. She has now responded to my Property24 complaint, ignoring or denying that I ever asked the questions clearly set out in my original contact message, and trying to shift all focus to the Whatsapp conversation that she initiated. This has now upset me to the point where I will be following up with estate agent boards, public ombudsmen, POPIA guardians, HelloPeter, social media, and any other avenues I can find to protect other members of the public from experiencing this kind of unprofessional behaviour.
