Mancosa Student Advisors providing incorrect information

Query submitted 14 December 2024

I got your email address from the receptionist at Durban offices as I am not receiving any fruitful assistance. I require your intervention and assistance in this matter please. Kindly refer email trail. I just got off a call with Sinehlanhla at 11.59am from Student services, who advised that neither her or anyone else is going to escalate my query. I have been pushed from pillar to post because no one wants to take accountability for the incorrect information provided to me. The jest of my issue is that from the 5 November after receiving assessment results for Auditing for Risk and Corporate Risk Management, I raised a query with Student services (Siphesihle) about my marks allocated as it was the first time I received such low marks. I was told that I require a minimum of 40 to be eligible to write the exam. I was short 2 marks for Auditing, which I then began the appeal process as advised by Support. My compiled emails were directed to Sinehlanhla. I received such poor responses from her that I eventually took a days leave and went to Mancosa for assistance on the 18th November. Via tele, she promised that she would arrange a session before my exam between the marker and co – Ordinator to revisit my paper, which never materialized. Neshlin Moonsamy the co Ordinator called me rather and I explained the entire situation. Later that day he called to advise that the required marks were allocated and I would be able to write the exam. Results were released on the 13 December and I was horrified to see that I didn’t meet minimum requirements for the assessments, yet I passed the exams: I have raised a query since the 14 December with no feedback at all. If I had known and was advised from the 5th November that I needed a combined average of 50 for both modules, I would have be able to secure a pass for these modules. The Co -Ordinator, Neshlin called me yesterday, 17 December to say that he assumed I met the minimum, if he had known I required 5 more marks, he would have awarded the correct mark allocation during my appeal, same scenario for Corporate Risk Management. If you refer my emails sent to Sinehlanhla, I even stated the following “ that I cannot come this far to fail by 2 marks” that alone will tell you that I was given the incorrect information. From the inception of this query, I was given misleading information, if I was given the correct information I would have been requesting a 45 mark for Auditing Case study 1 and would have resubmitted CRM Case study 1 for a higher mark. But I was ****** of that opportunity because of the incorrect information. Please note these mitigating factors, that I am: - A full time employed person, who travels both rural and city offices performing control audits, set by stringent deadlines. - I am a mother of two children aged 2 and 9 years old. - I have sacrificed sleepless nights and early mornings in order to meet all study requirements. - I have taken time off from work to write these exams. - I am awarded a company bursary. I am appealing to you, to kindly intervene to re-evaluate these two modules where I was unfairly and incorrectly informed by your employees, which has now left me in this situation through no fault of mine. I have shared my experience and submission papers with a Senior Lecturer from Varsity College, who has informed me that my submissions and overall marks would have attained me a pass at their institution. I think it is totally unfair, and unreasonable that I need to set my career growth, and promotion capabilities back by 6 months due to an incompetence created by your employees. I have sacrificed so much to reach where I am, and I have comfortably passed all other modules in the Postgraduate Risk Management qualification. I am humbly requesting that I that my query be attended to with urgency and I should at least be awarded a pass in these modules. I cannot accept that due to incorrect information that I now need to be out of pocket through no fault of mine as well as be overlooked for any career growth due to the mistake by your institution. Please kindly assist.
