Mancosa marker contradicting institution advice

When I started the post graduate program, we were advised not to rely on the study guide and to use a variety of sources when completing assessments. However, during our meeting with the marker (Dr Raj) and Assessment Coordinator (Nompilo Nkabinde), the marker was dismissive and contradicted the above statement by stating that I should be using the study guide as the source of information when completing my assignment.

I asked him to share his screen and search for the answer to question of the assessment, he flatly denied. I then proceeded by sharing my screen and showing them search results of the assessment question and asked if my answers were not the same as those in the study guide although they were phrased differently, he responded by saying I should use the answers in the study guide and should not be using Google to research answers. This is all in the recording of the meeting with the Assessment Coordinator.

Also, I asked for the recording to be shared and the coordinator said she will check with the supervisor if that was allowed. This was puzzling as I do not understand why would she record if the recording cannot be shared with meeting attendees. I have not received the recording so far.

I was unimpressed with the marker's conduct as he was dismissive and contradicting what we told when we started the program, and carried with this conduct even when I provided proof of my argument with regards to his error in marking the question at hand. This left me questioning whether the marker has any knowledge or understanding of the module he was marking.

The coordinator advised that she would arrange a meeting with the marker, an internal resource who is well versed in the module and the module lecturer (this was requested by me). To date the meeting has not been arranged even though we concluded the meeting by 11:30 AM on Thursday (11-14-2024).
