Formal Complaint Against MANCOSA – Unfair Plagiarism Penalty and Unjust Remark Costs

I am writing this complaint out of deep frustration and disappointment with how I have been treated by MANCOSA, particularly regarding my Business Finance module.

I was recently given a zero for this module on the basis of plagiarism, even though we were all taught the same method of doing the calculations. It is highly stressful and unfair to expect different results from a class that was instructed to follow a single method of solving problems. The calculations naturally come out similar or identical, because we followed what we were taught.

To make matters worse, I was then required to pay a large amount of money for a remark, even though I am confident that I completed the work independently using the methods presented to us by our lecturer. I feel like the institution is taking advantage of students financially, especially in my case — I have already successfully passed seven modules and this is my final one. I am extremely disheartened that I am now being forced to repeat this module, at an additional cost, due to what I feel is an unfair and poorly handled process.

It feels like MANCOSA is more interested in making money than supporting students fairly and ethically. I have worked very hard to reach this stage, only to be failed over something that could have been resolved with context and academic support. This experience has caused me immense stress, disappointment, and financial strain.

Based on this experience, I cannot recommend MANCOSA to anyone. The lack of fairness, the financial pressure put on students, and the impersonal handling of serious matters like this one are unacceptable.

I am requesting that this matter be properly investigated and that MANCOSA revisits their processes regarding plagiarism, especially in calculation-based modules, where similar answers are inevitable. I also urge the institution to stop penalizing students financially for matters that could be handled with academic integrity and support.
