Failed Module with a Pass Mark

Here are my results for the semester:

• Business Law 75% (PASS) • Organisational Leadership 69% (PASS) • Taxation for Individuals 65% (PASS) • Cost Accounting 63% (FAIL combined sub minimum - Re-register)

You may be wondering why I failed Cost Accounting with a pass mark of 63%. Let me explain.

For my second attempt at the assignment, I needed just a few more marks to pass. I reached out to MANCOSA’s student services via email with a photo reference, highlighting that it seemed I had lost marks despite using methods from the study materials and module guide provided. Unfortunately, the response I received from the admin was that my approach was incorrect. They did not provide any further explanation. It is absurd that MANCOSA, the authors of the study materials, cannot explain why their own methods are deemed incorrect. Are we to be blamed for following the faulty textbooks that MANCOSA wrote?

Moreover, the Module Guides contain numerous errors, such as incorrect conversion factors. These are errors that should not exist in higher-level textbooks. If primary school textbooks don’t make such mistakes, what excuse does MANCOSA have?

Additionally:

1. Students do not have direct contact with lecturers via email. 2. We must go through MANCOSA first, which hinders communication between learners and lecturers, preventing us from learning to the best of our capabilities. 3. We cannot raise sensitive queries during webinars due to time constraints for other students. 4. We are not allowed to provide sensitive queries on MANCOSA’s “Ask the Academic” feature.

I have invested R50,450 for this type of service for my tuition and I refuse to pay an additional registration fee of R4,208.75 for a module I passed with 63%.
