Appeal denied despite medical incapacity and passed final exam

I am raising a concern regarding the handling of my academic appeal.

A module has been recorded as failed due to non-submission of the KCQ component. The KCQ closed during a period when I was medically declared unfit and on bed rest. I submitted an official medical certificate confirming that I was unfit for academic activity during the relevant period.

Despite this, I went on to write and pass the final examination with 66%, demonstrating academic competence in the module. I submitted a formal appeal together with my medical evidence. However, the appeal was declined solely on the basis that it was outside the five-day appeal window.

It is important to note that I was only able to access my results after settling my account. I did not have visibility of my results when they were initially released in December and therefore could not reasonably act within the prescribed timeframe.

While I respect institutional policies and the need for procedural integrity, I believe that documented medical incapacity combined with demonstrated academic competence warrants discretionary academic consideration.

Requiring re-registration and additional payment under these circumstances feels disproportionate and administrative rather than reflective of academic ability. It is deeply disheartening and discouraging to feel that exceptional medical circumstances and demonstrated academic competence are not met with compassionate consideration.
