Professional Magazine conduct

I have been an avid reader of Man Magnum since 1977. For a long time I was even a contributor, but that was under the late Ron Anger’s watch. Lately, under new ownership related to the hunting industry, things are not what they seem.

I am a member of LERA SA, an association which strives to let the Lee Enfield rifle survive under modern calibre pressures. Thus we went on an organized hunt in 2018. We all felt that an article about the hunt would support our cause, as many Lee Enfields still find their way into the hunting field worldwide..

I submitted said article to them as I always did. They responded well at first, from wanting high resolution photographs to calling me by a gentleman by the surname of van Emmenis to actually edit the article word for word. This part was appreciated by me, as I am not a professional writer.

Then all fell silent for a few months. Yes, months.

Last night 10 April 2019, I contacted Gail Osborne at the magazine again by email, sort of threatening her with a review. She did respond today, but emptied a bucket of ice-water on my head: they had decided not to place the article. Not mentioning when the decision was made.

The professional conduct I was used to seems to be gone.

It is a sad sad situation.
