No refund + No returns = No customer care
A tiling lesson learnt the hard way...
Thought I would share my experience:
As we know some tiling outlets attain a high standard of service that prioritizes their customers satisfaction.
Others don't...
I bought bathroom tiles from a big tiling retail outlet in paarden island and half way through the installation the tiler noted numerous problems with these tiles (glazing, colour and size discrepancies). The retailer sent a site inspector to investigate, he acknowledged that the tiles (although labeled grade A) were of inconsistent quality. A complaints folder was opened. Management decided that no reimbur*****t or replacement of these tiles would occur, despite the obvious problems. Why? Well this retailer has a policy which states that tiles are only guaranteed on a dry lay (laying them all out before installing to assess for problems) and once installation begins they do not take responsibility regardless of the product fault.
What I have learnt: 1. Ask your tiler to dry lay - even if it is 50-100sqm which seems like a ridiculous task. 2. Do not take for granted that the store has checked quality prior to selling. You have to double check yourself. 3. Read the fine print - the garantee is stated at the bottom of the receipt (only visible after payment). However they also have a large stamp they add to the receipt saying that they do not do refunds. So a lose lose situation if you have problems. 4. Customer satisfaction is not the priority of large service providers (well not this one anyway)... 5. Have a financial buffer for unforeseen problems
Hope this helps you in your next tiling journey!
