Formal Complaint: Ongoing Parking Payment Machine Failures
Dear Mall of the South Management,
I am writing to formally complain about the ongoing problems with the parking payment machines and exit boom gates at Mall of the South.
I have experienced these issues repeatedly for some time now, like unreadable tickets, machines not accepting cash or card payments, slow card transaction and paid tickets not being recognised a t the exit gates.
My experience today highlights the severity of the problem. Two payment machines were unable to process card payments, while the third rejected my ticket as unreadable. After contacting the assistance team, I was advised to pay the R10 but the machine refused to accept two separate R20 notes.
What makes this particularly frustrating is that I went back to my car to fetch the R40 in cash because the first two machines were not accepting card payments for some odd reason. I then attempted to use the cash at the third machine, only for it to reject both R20 notes. After speaking to the assistance team and being advised to pay the R10, I eventually tried paying by card again on the third machine and the card payment suddenly worked. This unnecessary back-and-forth could have been avoided if the payment machines were functioning properly from the start.
That’s not all, when I reached the exit gate, my paid ticket was again rejected as unreadable, and I had to wait for an employee to manually open the boom gate.
I have remained patient for some time now, hoping these issues would be resolved, but they continue to persist. I request that this matter be urgently investigated and that meaningful steps be taken to permanently address the recurring problems.
I would appreciate feedback regarding the action that will be taken.
Kind regards, Kabelo Motsumi
