Worst place ever

So went to Makro to buy a Iqos machine to help with stopping smoking. First time buyer of this. I asked for the machine and the sticks that go with it. Got home and tested it. It didn't work. I contacted the Iqos support team who told me that I cannot use those sticks with the machine they sold me. I would need to use the Terea sticks. I went back to Makro who told me they are not willing to exchange the sticks for the ones that are supposed to go with the machine and that the massive chain store won't take the R400 knock but the consumer (me) would need to take the knock. I say to them that the consumer law says we have the right to be informed before leaving the shop and that it is Makro's responsibility to have trained staff who needed to inform me that those sticks can't be used with that machine and he tells me no it's my responsibility to know what I'm buying. I'm outraged since I've wasted R400 on a product I cannot use because Makro sold me two incompatible products. I am in the process of opening an official complaint at the consumer commission.
