Why sell us extended warranty?

In Jan 2018, I bought a Samsung fridge from Makro. Also bought an extended warranty for the very same fridge. Jan 2021 the fridge stops operating. I go to the store with relevant documents with the hope to get assisted. It's now almost four weeks and the fridge still not fixed. Why sell extended warranties when you can't fix the appliances? Makro call centre is never of assistance.
