We have your money now...

Went to Makro today - just to be reminded why I do not like to shop there. You take your rickity tickety trolley, pick the items you need - go to the paypoint, wrestle with the cashier (and eventually the supervisor), about the prices of the advertised specials at the till (make sure you have the pamphlet to prove the sale price!). Then you pay and try to leave in peace to be confronted (everytime), by some very unfriendly outside contracted security guard (to be treated like a ********, to be searched!). Stuff you we have your money now! Then you land in the parking area to be further and finally harassed by a parking attendant!!! I 'needed' this order/procedure of the Makro shopping experience - taking away any possible shopping pleasure - to be reminded not to go back very soon.

Thank you very much for bringing your concerns to our attention. It is feedback like this that can help us be more effective and efficient to our customers. I must also sincerely apologize for the bad service that you mentioned you had received in our store, however please be advised that it is not our intention to render bad service to our customers but we strive to excite and delight our customers with the most exciting range, prices and efficient service.
Makro have for many years adopted the End Control discipline in respect to its being both an added service to consumers and a deterrent against losses which would lead to added costs and would impact the discounted pricing we are able to pass on to our customers.
Our customers have grown accustomed to this practice and many welcome it as a term and condition of shopping with us. This is because there are occasions where errors are detected and rectified whilst the customer is at the store.
Makro reserve our rights, and it is our prerogative to make sure that our customers leave with the correct merchandise.
We are not planning to make changes to our process, but continue to seek ways of ensuring control with as little inconvenience to customers as possible.
Your constructive feedback around the signage is much appreciated and will be considered.
When you do visit any of the stores and you have any queries, please do not hesitate to ask for the store Executive Manager and address the issue in store with them. I have copied the store Marketing Executive ( Chan Uithaler) so that the Port Elizabeth branch is aware of your complaint.
We hope you will visit us again and that you will have a more positive experience.
Regards
