Warranty

So i bought a seagate HDD at Makro Polokwane , the HDD just stopped working while in use , i check the seagate website for my warranty status and its valid till 20.02.19 i contact them and they offer to replace my device as its still under warranty the only problem is i have to ship it to uk which is equivalent to just buying a new one this side , so i decide to go bak to Makro to see if they can honor the warranty only to be told they wont , why will Makro sell a product that they will not adopt the same policy when it comes to the warranty ? long story short they refused to replace it as they told me their warranty is only valid for a year , so dissapointed
