URGENT REFUND - RYOBI INVERTER BOUGHT IN AUGUST- MAKRO

I am lodging a formal complaint against the Makro Branch in Amanzimtoti (Arbour Crossing). My parents visited the shop and purchased a RYOBI Inverter Generator- G32001 on 16 August 2025. This inverter was bought specifically for Power outage issues that they encounter in their area of residence. The Inverter stopped working and my parents subsequently returned it to the Shop on 23 September 2025 as it wasn't starting. The Makro branch took the inverter and took almost 2-3 weeks & advised that the inverter was back and running and could be collected. It was collected in the store but my parents confirmed that it wasn't starting properly when the Makro representative was testing it. The inverter was used only once (as it is only used as a back up when there is no power). The Inverter stopped functioning again and my parents returned again to the Makro Shop on 16 October 2025 and Management promised to have it checked up and returned ASAP. My parents did state that they require a refund as they did not trust the inverter anymore, however Makro Management stated that they will send the inverter back to RYOBI to have it checked and a refund would be given, should the inverter still be nonfunctional. Time lapsed and Makro advised that the inverter was ready for collection and it was fixed. Once again, the inverter stopped working after attempting to use it and my parents drove back to request another third Refund on 8 November 2025. The inverter was taken by Makro and they refused to refund my parents and said they must leave the inverter with them for the THIRD time. It was today- 20 November 2025 that my mother received a call from the shop and was advised that she cannot get any refund- but she must come collect the inverter. This is quite frustrating and is a contravention of the Consumer Protection Act, which clearly states that Consumers can return defective goods or unsafe goods within 6 months for a refund/repair or replacement of their choice. Furthermore, my parents bought the inverter from Makro and have no dealings with Ryobi who is the supplier herein. The Act states that Suppliers are accountable for any loss caused by consumers. We therefore require an urgent Refund to be issued by Makro Urgently. My parents are pensioners and they stay quite far from Makto Toti - so it's quiet frustrating for them to be -driving up and down with a product that is clearly not working ( waste of time and petrol) only to be told that Makro cannot assist. Furthermore, taking the inverter for over 2 weeks on more than two occasions- and refusing to issue a Refund is a clear violation of Consumer rights.

We there request an urgent Refund of R 11 500.00.
