TV broken by Makro but it's the customer's responsability

So I bought a 55 inch TV from Makro in Germiston. I normally don't buy anything at Makro due to previous terrible experiences there. I went to Makro on the 7th of February and bought a large amount of apliences a long with the TV. So the appliances got delivered to my home and amongst all the appliances the TV was the only appliance that was not opened and unboxed when I got home because we were busy with moving things from one house to the next. The TV was kept inside the garage because it was safe to do so since there were no cars, neither were there any people coming in or out of the garage.

On the 15 of February, I dicided to unbox the TV since later that week I would have a company coming to the house to install my decoder. I opened my TV box up, removed the styrofoam from the box, took out a plastic bag with the remote and cables (which was lose in the box) and then removed the TV and placed on my couch. I removed the protective plastic bag, as I was removing it I see this major crack on the bottom of the TV. So I repacked the TV and decided to go to Makro that same day!

I get to Makro's return office and they redirec me to the media center so that they can aprove the refund. I get to the media center and I was attended by an employee named Robert, he was very helpful to access the damage on the TV and said that he's waiting for his supervisor to so that he can access the damage too so that he (the surpervisor) can then give a final decision as to what has to be done. Makro has a wall with about 15 or so TV's that are switched on for display and on that day all TV's where showing a replay of the match between Highlands Park and Polokwane City.

By the time the so called supervisor came not only had I spent my whole afternoon at Makro but I had watched the FULL first half of that game and the first 15 mins of the second half. I was furious but I decided to keep my cool so that I could give the "supervisor" room to access the damaged TV. Not even 3 minutes later the supervisor gave his amazing speech which started with "let's look at this from my point of view, the TV is cracked and the point of impact is at the bottom of the screen. If we look at the TV Box there's no damage done to the box to which we can relate to the screen so my only conclusion is that while you were unboxing the TV you broke it! The only thing we can do is send it in for assessment". I imidiatly lost my temper and told him "let's look at this from my point of view, my TV has been in a garage that hasn't been surrounded with either cars or people, I did not brake the TV screen and neither do you have proof in order to make such an assumption, I have been left here to watch an entire first half of that game and you have wasted my afternoon and all you can tell me is that you will send the TV in for assessment? Either you refund me the full amount for the TV or you give me a new TV or you call me your manager".

Soon the sales manager arrived and told me the same thing has the supervisor, I told him that I have been neglected by his staff and that the I couldn't accept sending the TV in for assessment as a final solution. To which he rep**** with a sarcastic grin on his face "well it's either that or you can take your lovely TV home the way it is", so I demanded to speak to his manager to which he rep**** "I am the manager can't you see" so I told him "I don't care who you are, call me someone in a higher position than you"!

I was then greeted by Yayah, to which I assumed was the Brach Manager of Makro Germiston. He told me that sending the TV for assessment was the only solution and that we could only wait for the result of the assessment. I then told Yayah that if Makro doesn't want to take responsibility for the broken TV, I don't want to take responsibility for the broken TV either because I didn't brake it, what makes him think that the manufacturer was going to take responsibility?? To which he rep**** with "I don't know". I then asked him "ok let's say the assessment comes back and it's a negative assessment so they won't take responsibility for the TV, then what??", "well we can only wait and see!". I am shocked and amazed that Makro's own staff do not know their procedures, they do not know how to treat a costumer and their attitude and arrogance towards a costumer is despicable!

I'm expecting Makro to refund me the full amount of the TV so that I can take my business else where. I am also expecting a formal apology from both the supervisor and the sales manager that "helped me out" that day!

I'll be waiting for Makro's reply on this matter!
